Some photos from the race this past Saturday. It was called the Challenger and a challenge it was! Beautiful scenery but oh the hills! Once you got up and down one, there was another one. These pictures are at the beginning, before we got on the trails and at the end, thankfully getting off them! So no photos from the "inside" It's a tough course for only 3 1/2 miles but it really is exhilerating. I finished six minutes faster than last year. Considering the terrain we were on, I was pleased. And it was a perfect morning, no wind, no humidity in the air, my family at the finish line. Great race for a good cause...bringing our own Sgt. Corey Briest back home this weekend. That's really what it's all about.

What does that mean, DeAnn? I'm afraid to ask, but why do you need to bring him home??

He's the last of the troops that has served in Iraq. He has been in a rehab center in CA for a year. 3 of the guys in that unit were killed in a roadside bomb and Corey Briest survived but is blind and had sever brain damage. Yankton people have been raising money for quite some time to help his family build a new house for his handicaps. He comes home this Sat. It's neat to see the whole city come together to help.

Sorry, these troops I'm talking about are all from Yankton.

Hey, DeAnn--six minutes faster is quite an accomplishment! Wow! You look great and it looks like the perfect day. Wish I could have joined you...maybe next year!

Oh man. It is good to see a community pull together like that. The cause is heartbreaking.
