I'm a mere one person registered for the marathon in October. One very small person amongst 40,000 other runners, some serious about this race and others, like myself, who just want to experience it. So my best friend since 2nd grade and I are signed up. I got the confirmation email and kind of swallowed the lump in my throat. I'm excited to finally do it. The home page says there are 226 more days until race day. Guess i better start training...it will take me that long. And guess I better start hydrating now. That too will take me that long. I also noticed there is a 6 hr. 30 min. finish line cut off. So I know I have at least 6 hrs. I'm pretty sure it will take me that long too. Woohoo! Let the training begin!
I've been eating them nonstop lately. On cereal, in pancakes, waffles, yogurt..whatever works with 'em. There's something about the sweetness when you bite into them that I love! Plus, ever since i heard blueberries are awesome anti-oxidents, how could i resist?!
So I've been buying up the blueberries and wish there was a Sam's club nearby so I could buy the bulk package. They can be kind of expensive but I think they are worth it. Good to eat and good for me too. Glad I fell in love with these little morsels of goodness!!

So I picked up Brody from his Valentines Day dance at school and he was so, well, happy! The smile was on his face, his dimples were showing when he smiles in that certain way. I asked him if he had fun..he said yes...asked him if he danced...he said yes...asked him if he danced with a girl...the smile got bigger.
"I asked a girl to dance,"
"You did?!"
"And she said maybe!!! She didn't say no, mom! All I wanted was for her to say not to say no and I got a maybe!"
I was kind of speechless. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
"That's awesome, Brody! Who was the girl"
"Lindsey."
"Sooooo, did she ever dance with you then?"
"Well, she danced with Mitch a little later on. But I still got a maybe!!"
The cutest story I'll probably ever hear coming from my almost teenager...

I'm up early this Sunday morning...can't sleep! My body has been used to getting up for early morning runs lately so my internal alarm clock keeps going off at the same time! Sometimes I just don't want it to go off. But then again, I am using this quiet time to read blogs, which i haven't been able to do lately. The kids activities have been keeping us quite busy and my photo business is picking up again after a much needed break. So possibly there is another reason I am up early...to catch up with you all again.
*Yesterday I ran my first race of the year. The Frostbite Four in Beresford. It's always a tough race for me. For one, the weather conditions are never great and for two, there is something about 4 miles that I just can't pace. It's not a common distance to race at so it's a wierd mental block for me. It turned out to be a great day for running, even with all the ice and snow. Seth and the kids drove me up so I didn't have to drive. The race started on snowpacked roads and i couldn't get any traction so I kept weaving all over the roads to find those patches of road where there was no snow. Then I could get my bearing again. After the first 2 miles, the roads were just wet, then slushy. But the temperature was perfect! My toes ended up getting numb with all the wetness but the rest of my body felt great. My goal was to finish under 30 and I came in at 29. Goal accomplished. After my toes warmed up and i could feel them again, Seth got me a pair of smartwool socks that friends recommended. Hopefully these cold, snowy runs will be few and far between! Great race, great people there. I love race days.
*Brody only has a couple of weeks left of basketball season. He's been going strong since November. I love watching him play. I don't know what he'll do when it ends since he's gotten so used to playing everyday. He'll start running next, I've got him lined up for a few 5K's!!
*Madison and Emerson are dancing, dancing, dancing! Along with just being girls. They love all the girlie things and it's fun to watch them grow. Madison is doing a basketball camp these last Saturday mornings. She likes to go but complains her hair gets too messed up and her headband keep falling out. I don't think bball will be her sport of choice but for now, she is learning all about it!
*Remember Seth and I along with another couple were going to Vegas for a little vacation? Well, we changed our destination. We're booking tomorrow to go to Florida. Much warmer there and more chances to just relax on the beach. Our hotel is right on the ocean. Aaaahhh, after all this snow, it will be a welcome change! We are looking forward to it. This will be our first real vacation with just us adults and no kids since our honeymoon!
*Life is good, God is good. He is the center of our world. Hope you all have a great Superbowl Sunday. Personally, I am looking forward to the commercials much more than the game. Just can't get too excited without our Vikings there. I know, I know, I need to get over it!! Hugs to all...:)
